Irish Government launch Support Scheme for Renewable Heat

On Thursday 7th December, Minister for Climate Action, Denis Naughten announced a €1 billion Support Scheme for Renewable Heat.

The scheme has been designed to financially support the replacement of fossil fuel heating systems with renewable energy for large heat demand non-domestic users. This includes commerical, industrial, public and agricultural sectors.

Reducing energy costs can have a huge impact on your margins and competitiveness as a business and this renewable heat incentive can support you in two ways.

  • An ongoing operational support (paid for a period of up to 15 years) for new installations or installations that currently use a fossil fuel heating system and convert to biomass.
  • A grant (up to 30%) tp support investment in renewable heating.

Minister Naughten stated that the Support Scheme for Renewable Heat is designed to ensure that air quality impacts will be addressed to support sustainable biomass use in installations using the best available technology and emission abatement.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland will administer the grants, however, if you would like more information on the biomass boilers and technology avaialble under this grant, you can take a look at our biomass products available here on our website or call us on 051 364 054.
