Threats to oil supplies as a result of unrest in the Middle East and North Africa are pushing up the cost of energy for Irish households and businesses.
The latest Bord Gáis Energy Index (BGEI) rose 2% in November, mostly as a result of a 2% increase in wholesale oil prices during the month. The Bord Gáis Energy Index now stands at 152, an increase of 5% on Nov 2011.
As the price of oil is rising frequently due to instability and other factors, now is the time to move to renewable energy where the price of biomass remains the same and no outside world factors can threaten to increase prices.
