Congratulations to Scoil Mhuire Agus Íde in Newcastle West and their ‘Rogue 3 Racing Team’ who took park in the F1 for Schools competition which was held place recently. The team had an outstanding performance reaching the quarter finals where the final eight competed in the Knockout Cup live on TG4 on Sunday night. Out of 60 schools, the boys placed in the top 10 overall in the competition, winning the ‘Best Innovation Award’ as a team.
Enerpower were delighted to be one of the team sponsors. The team have achieved great success in this competition. The team dedicated a large portion of their time to researching their key findings and developing them into their overall car design.
The ‘Rogue 3 Racing team consisted of Sean Geraghty, Jack O’Doherty and Harry Edwards. The boys worked tirelessly to create a 3D printed F1 model aided by CAD and fluid dynamics systems. Congratulations to Harry Edwards, who won the prestigious ‘Facebook Engineer of the Future Award’.
F1 in Schools is a competition that has been growing across the country with different awards. The challenge inspires students to use IT to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/teamwork, media skills and financial strategy, and apply them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way.
