Impacts Of Heat Pumps In Ireland’s Energy System

Impacts Of Heat Pumps On Ireland Energy System

The installation of Heat Pumps in Ireland allows for your business to generate heat from a renewable resource providing you with financial savings. Heat pumps are a sustainable way of providing heat to your business and are an efficient alternative to oil or gas heating systems.

With a growing concentration on sustainability, carbon reduction and environmental impacts, the implementation of heat pumps in Ireland’s will future-proof businesses and homeowners against energy price increases.

As part of the climate action plan 2021, The Irish government plans to replace oil and solid fuel boilers with heat pumps which will be operated by renewable electricity sources such as solar pv panels. The government aims to install 400,000 heat pumps throughout existing buildings by 2030 along with their current new build installations.

Electrifying Irelands heating system through the installation of heat pumps could increase power costs by up to 46% a research paper has found

The study titled decarbonising heat through electricity, costs, and benefits of Irish power system from The Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) showed that electrifying 20% Ireland’s heating systems would increase the power system costs by 30%, suggesting that solar pv panels should also be considered for the install to minimize the electricity costs that will come with heating your business/home.

Heat Pump installation will benefit your business by reducing your heating costs, reducing your carbon emissions and providing a longer lifespan than your fossil fuel boilers.

Heat pumps will use a small amount of electrical energy to transfer the ambient heat in the air outside of your building and move it inside. Once inside, at a higher temperature, this can then be used in the supply of hot water and space heating, including in existing heating radiators. Heat pumps in Ireland are growing in popularity with more and more people choosing them over oil or gas heating systems. Reducing your heating bills now, can save you up to one-third of your heating costs by changing your traditional heating systems to a new efficient heat pump system.  If you have further questions about heat pumps installation, check out our heat pump FAQ page or alternatively give us a call on 051 364 054
