Enerpower have recently completed the installation of a 85KW boiler for north Tipperary County Council at their Coolbawn Water treatment plant. The project involved a number of elements including the installation of a biomass boiler, improvements to the insulation and air tightness of the building and installing additional zone controls to allow effective use of the heat being generated.
The project is relatively unique as it was financed by Enerpower based on an ESCO agreement over seven years. By utilising this type of agreement the council pays the same amount to heat this building over a seven year period using Biomass instead of oil and then after this time the building can be heated for a much lower cost than on oil.
This is viewed to be beneficial to both Enerpower and the Client as it allows projects to be completed under operational budgets for the local Authority and it produces a recurring revenue stream for Enerpower over the seven year period.
