DPD Ireland, a prominent player in the Irish parcel delivery market, has shown its dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility. They recognised the importance of renewable energy and contacted Enerpower, a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, to turn their headquarters in Athlone, into a beacon of solar power generation. DPD was committed to minimising its environmental impact by adopting eco friendly practices and reducing its carbon emissions.

The Solar System Installation
Once Enerpower were contacted, a team of experienced engineers went on site to determine the best renewable energy solution for DPD Ireland. After an initial examination and future conversations, a 1.3MW solar system was seen to be the best option and would give DPD Ireland the best return on investment.
The 1.3MW solar system consisted of 512 leapton solar panels and 2 Huawei inverters. This would cover 11.3% of the facilities rooftop. The solar panels were strategically angled at a 5 ° tilt, with 376 panels south-west facing and 137 panels north-east facing in order to get the most efficient outcome.
According to a spokesperson at DPD, “the new solar system is able to provide up to 11% of the hub’s electricity demands and deliver an emissions reduction of c.50 tons of C02 annually”.
