Errigal five star youth hostel is located in Dunlewy, Co. Donegal. The old building was recently demolished and a new 60 bed facility was recently built. The project has €3 million investment and is one of the most impressive state of the art youth hostels. The new hostel boasts a Gilles 145kW pellet boiler, which is responsible for providing 100% of their space heating and hot water requirement. Not only does the pellet boiler help the hostel reduce its annual energy spend; it also helps them save 68 tonnes of carbon per year. A purpose built boiler house and fuel store was constructed. The wood pellets are fed to the boiler using a blower.
