Enerpower is delighted to have installed a 584 KWp solar panel system for BD. This installation consisted of two roof top mounted projects. The first was installed on Alpha building with a total capacity of 219KWp. The second roof top mount was installed on Beta building with a total capacity of 365KWp.
Along with a high-tech solar panel system, Enerpower installed a state of the art 1.4MW Heat pump system.
BD
BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world and is advancing the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics, and the delivery of care. They provide innovative products, services and solutions that enhance the quality of healthcare and make a difference in patient’s lives worldwide. BD have multiple sites and facilities both in the UK and Ireland.
As part of a global strategy, BD intend to minimize their contribution toward global emissions driving energy reduction by 25% and air emissions by 33% aiming to reach these targets by 2030.
BD contacted Enerpower, to help them develop a renewable energy solution that would assist them in reaching these goals.
Enerpower Solar Installation
Enerpower designed, developed, and implemented a renewable energy solution that would benefit BD at their plant in Enniscorthy. With a shared vision of sustainability and environmental responsibility, the project aimed to integrate clean energy solutions into the company’s operations to minimise their environmental impact while enhancing energy efficiency.
Phase 1 of the project was to install a 584KW solar PV system across two rooftops followed by Phase 2 which consisted of the installation of a 1.4MW heat pump system.
The solar array was installed across two rooftops, Alpha, and Beta. Alpha consisted of 477 solar panels, facing East and West, with a total capacity of 219KWp. Beta rooftop consisted of 793 solar panels, strategically facing all points of the compass, with a total capacity of 365KWp.
JA 470W MBB half-cell module solar panels were used in this project. The half-cut configuration of this module offers the advantages of higher power output, better temperature dependent performance, reduced shading effect on the energy generation, lower risk of hot spots, as well as enhanced tolerance for mechanical loading.
The rooftop solar panel system, consisting of high performance solar photovoltaic modules, will enable BD to generate clean and renewable electricity on-site. By leveraging solar energy, BD is projected to reduce its reliance on traditional fossil fuel, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Enerpower Heat Pump Installation
Enerpower expertly designed, developed, and installed a 1.4MW heat pump system. This consisted of two air-to-water heat pumps and two water-to-water heat pumps.
The cutting-edge technology harnesses the natural heat from the environment to provide efficient heating, cooling, and hot water solutions at the BD, Enniscorthy facility. By optimising energy usage and minimising waste, the state-of-the-art heat pump system will generate a savings of around 267,607kg CO2 per annum.
Enerpower were delighted to help BD on their sustainability journey. With the completion of this project, BD is expected to make significant progress toward achieving its sustainability goals. The implementation of a rooftop solar panel system and heat pump solution has the potential to revolutionise how medical facilities and other commercial buildings approach energy consumption, providing a blueprint for a greener and more sustainable future.
