Irish energy costs soar due to Middle East unrest threatening oil supplies

Threats to oil supplies as a result of unrest in the Middle East and North Africa are pushing up the cost of energy for Irish households and businesses. The latest Bord Gáis Energy Index (BGEI) rose 2% in November, mostly as a result of a 2% increase in wholesale oil prices during the month. Bord Gáis gas bills to rise 8.5 per cent in two months
